The Tin Dragon Interpretation Centre & Cafe

They said the dam would never fail – but it did! Visit the Tin Dragon Interpretation Centre & Cafe and experience the might an fury of a billion litres of water in a state of the art presentation on a 15 metre glass screen. Great coffee, home baked treats, fresh local produce. A Trail of the Tin Dragon attraction. Don’t miss it!

The Tin Dragon Interpretation Centre is a state of the art attraction where, through an incredible 15 metre screened multi-media presentation you’ll experience the power and the fury of water in the epic story of the Tin Rush and the European and Chinese miners who sought their fortune from this remarkable metal.  Learn also how tin opened the world to exploration and discovery and its effect on some of history’s greatest battles.  Be awed by the might and tragedy of the 1929 destruction of the Briseis Mine in a fury of flooding so huge it caused the river to reverse its flow for five miles upstream and wreaked devastation upon the town and it’s people.

One cannot help but be moved by the collections of small everyday items and personal treasures swept aside to now stand as quiet but stark reminders of the terrible losses of those hard working men and their families
