East of Bridport is home to the best known of the northeast regions fisheries of Blackmans Lagoon, Little Waterhouse and Big Waterhouse lakes. These fisheries are regularly stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Blackmans Lagoon is the most popular and productive of these waters with large brown trout caught here each season.
Throughout the region there are small dams, many built to service the mining industry of the last century. These dams usually hold good numbers of brown trout and offer good fishing whether you are spinning, bait fishing or fly fishing.
Small creeks provide a great challenge in a beautiful environment and they are found throughout the region. The Weld River, near Weldborough is exclusively populated by rainbow trout, a unique experience in Tasmania.
