Unique Experiences

The Corner Store @ The Tin Centre

The Tin Dragon Interpretation Centre is a state-of-the-art attraction where, through an incredible 15 metre screened multi-media presentation, you’ll experience the power and the fury of water in the epic story of the Tin Rush and the European and Chinese miners who sought their fortune from this remarkable metal.

They said the dam would never fail – but it did!

Be awed by the might and tragedy of the 1929 destruction of the Briseis Mine, in a fury of flooding so huge it caused the river to reverse it’s flow for five miles upstream (!!) and wreaked devastation upon the town and it’s people.

One cannot help but be moved by the collections of small everyday items and personal treasures, swept aside by flood waters to now stand as quiet but stark reminders of the terrible losses of those hard working men and their families.

Learn how tin opened the world to exploration and discovery, and it’s effect on some of history’s greatest battles.

All this at the Tin Dragon Interpretation Centre, located within The Corner Store @ The Tin Centre – where you can also get great coffee, home baked treats, and freshly cooked meals. Don’t miss it!
