What’s On

North East Rivers Festival

The North East Rivers Festival commenced in 2007, and has grown to feature numerous events over two weeks, including the iconic Derby River Derby! The Festival recognises and celebrates the importance of rivers in the North East, and draws together the many communities that are situated along the riverbanks in our region.

The “Derby River Derby” has been an exciting part of North East Tasmania’s event calendar for the last 38 years. Every year in October, young folk and adventuresome adults tackle the rapid-laden Ringarooma River, vying for trophies and bragging rights. The small township of Derby comes alive to the thrills, spills and mayhem of the Derby River Derby. A must see!

Other different activities are also held across the Dorset municipality as part of the North East Rivers Festival, and may include fishing competitions, horse gymkhanas, concerts, vineyard dinners, golf challenges, fun runs and markets.

Come to North East Tasmania in October, and make sure you enjoy the fun and activities at the next North East Rivers Festival!

Annual Arts Festival

While elsewhere in Tasmania people are tucking up by the fire and going into winter hibernation, North East Tasmania comes alive to celebrate and showcase local arts and crafts annually on the June long weekend.
