Visit historic Scottsdale, heart of the North East’s rich agricultural, dairying and forest region. Heritage buildings abound along King Street and surrounding areas.

Savour the flavours and enjoy country hospitality at a local pub, award-winning bakery or restaurant. Why not stay a night or two and explore the area?

Visit the Forest EcoCentre, an award-winning building showcasing Tasmania’s finest timbers, forest ecology and history of the North East through innovative architecture and interactive displays. Take your time and relax in the café.

At the Scottsdale Visitor Information Centre, within the Forest EcoCentre, helpful volunteers will assist with tours, accommodation and activities – and even make the bookings for you.

Take in the art gallery and the unique doll museum. Annually, around the June long weekend, Scottsdale celebrates art, craft and quilting with fine exhibitions.

Get up close and personal at the twilight horse race meeting in mid January. This is one of the few remaining country race meetings in Tasmania.

North East Park is the ideal family spot to picnic. Maybe spot a platypus, pademelon, wallaby or the rare burrowing crayfish. Camping is free!

For energetic walkers the half-day return walk to Mt Stronach’s summit provides panoramic views. Beautiful Cuckoo Falls, off the A3, offers another challenge – some sections require careful navigation.

Take the A3 scenic drive to the Mount Barrow Discovery Trail and Interpretation Centre. Turn off at Binghams Road in Nunamara. On your return enjoy the spectacular Sideling Lookout view.

For golfers the North East boasts one of the world’s best courses. Play historic Scottsdale then Bridport Let’s Go… at the Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links course.
